At Pine Floors and More, our main product is flooring, and like our customers, each of our many varieties of flooring is unique. You can choose from 4", 6", or 8" flooring. You can choose any style from our premium grade to our rustic grade. You can choose to purchase flooring containing heart wood, and you can choose to add pegs for an old-fashioned look. At Pine Floors and More, you are sure to find flooring that will fit your own distinctive style.
Available Flooring Grades
Premium- Our premium flooring comes with very few natural imperfections, if any at all. It is, by far, our most formal grade. |
 Select- Our select flooring comes with some knots and other natural imperfections which add to the character of the wood. It makes for a gorgeous floor! |
 Rustic- Our rustic flooring is bursting with character! All knots included in the flooring will be sound; therefore, they will not fall out of the piece. This flooring style definitely has tons of country charm. |
Flooring Options
Heart Pine- The above grades are also available with heart wood as well. Heart is the much sought after red streaks that appear in southern yellow pine. Unfortunately, most trees do not get large enough today to produce a significant amount of heart. In fact, most companies that produce pine flooring containing heart purchase antique lumber from old buildings or recover logs that have sunk to the bottom of rivers. As you might expect, this causes antique heart pine and reclaimed heart pine flooring to be very expensive. For the most part, heart pine flooring can be purchased from other dealers for between about $8.00 and $20.00 per square foot. Because we process such a large volume of logs at Chesterfield Lumber, however, we do occasionally find heart wood in the trees that enter our mill, and it is now available in flooring in very limited quantities at reasonable prices.
Pegs- Before flooring was manufactured with a tongue and groove for installation, it was secured using wooden pegs. In addition to holding it down, the pegs provided variety to the flooring. While the pegs aren't necessary to install flooring anymore, they can be added to your order if you'd like an old fashioned look. Also, if you want to add extra "staying power" to your floor, you can screw the flooring down underneath the pegs. For an additional $1.25 per square foot, we'll pre-drill your flooring for the pegs, and we'll include screws, a screwdriver drill bit, and pegs with your shipment. The pegs used for the 1x4 flooring are 1/2" in diameter, and the one used in the 1x6s and 1x8s are 3/4" in diameter.

Flooring Descriptions
1x4 Premium with Heart Vertical Grain
Our 1x4 premium with heart has only an occasional small knot and no other imperfections. Additionally, the pieces will have streaks of red heart over the face. The heart content of the 1x4 flooring ranges from 10 to 100% and averages approximately 20 to 30%. It is, by far, our most formal grade.
1x6 & 1x8 Premium with Heart
Our 1x6 and 1x8 premium with heart flooring has small, tight knots which are generally about smaller than the size of a quarter. Additionally, the pieces will have streaks of red heart over the face. The heart content of the 1x6 and 1x8 flooring is at least 50%. Like our 1x4 premium with heart, it is a very formal grade.
1x4 Select with Heart Vertical Grain
Our 1x4 select with heart has very few imperfections. At times the pieces will actually be free of knots and other imperfections but will have slightly wider grain than the 1x4 premium with heart. Any knots present will be very sound and usually no bigger than a quarter. Additionally, the pieces will have streaks of red heart over the face. The heart content of the 1x4 flooring averages 20%.
1x6 & 1x8 Select with Heart
Our select with heart flooring comes with a slightly larger knots and natural imperfections than our 1x6 and 1x8 premium with heart, which add to the character of the wood. Additionally, the pieces will have streaks of red heart over the face. The heart content of the 1x6 and 1x8 flooring averages 25%.
1x4 Rustic with Heart Vertical Grain
Our 1x4 rustic with heart has a great deal more natural defects than our higher grades. All knots included in our 1x4 rustic with heart flooring will be sound; therefore, they will not fall out of the piece. Additionally, the pieces will have streaks of red heart over the face. The heart content of the 1x4 flooring averages 20%. This flooring style definitely has tons of country charm.
1x6 & 1x8 Rustic with Heart
Like our 1x4 rustic with heart, our 1x6 and 1x8 rustic with heart contain more natural defects than our higher grades of flooring. All knots included in our 1x6 and 1x8 rustic with heart flooring will be sound; therefore, they will not fall out of the piece. Additionally, the pieces will have streaks of red heart over the face. The heart content of the 1x6 and 1x8 flooring averages 20%. Also like the 1x4 rustic with heart, this flooring style exudes country charm.
1x4 Vertical Grain, 1x6, & 1x8 Premium
Our premium flooring comes with almost no imperfections. The flooring will be free of knots and other natural defects. It's perfect for a clean, uniform look.
1x4 Vertical Grain, 1x6 & 1x8 Select
Our select flooring comes with a few small, sound knots and natural imperfections which add to the character of the wood.
1x4 Vertical Grain, 1x6, & 1x8 Rustic
The knots in our 1x4, 1x6, and 1x8 rustic flooring will be larger and rougher than those present in our select grade. All knots included in the flooring will be sound; therefore, they will not fall out of the piece. The 1x4 vertical rustic flooring may contain an occasional flat sawn piece. This flooring style is absolutely bursting with character!
